The complex has lush tropical gardens, a peaceful feel and a nice pool area. The resort supplied clean sheets and towels, and other units seemed better equipped. But the apartments are individually owned, so it seems to depend which one you get. Number 15 was dirty and poorly set up for a holiday rental. The kitchenware was a random bunch of scrappy items, all needing a wash before use. One room’s aircon smelled of cigarettes, and there was dust and grime on the walls, cupboards, floors, blinds, lights and fans. The mattresses and pillows were uncomfortable, the furniture and fittings were old, some cupboards were full of the owner’s junk, and there were cockroaches. We were visiting family and knew the apartments were fairly basic, so I wasn’t expecting hotel level accommodation, but apartment 15 was below standard. It needed a proper scrub, steam clean, and at least better quality bedding and kitchenware. Somehow be selective about which apartment you book.

Leanne and the staff were so friendly and helpful, and the pool was a real highlight. It's large, safe, easy to keep an eye on children, and has plenty of shady spots. The apartments are airy and spacious, with lovely beds, and the shower had great heat and pressure. TV reception was good too. The drive into town takes about five minutes, so walking to attractions isn't easy. Parking is limited to one car per apartment, though there are other spaces a walk away. Pool towels cost $5. Bring tea, coffee, milk and washing powder, since the welcome pack was smaller than what you'd usually get in a motel room and no detergent was provided. There are beautiful places to eat in town.

The apartment was spacious, with a big living room, a well-equipped kitchen and appliances that all worked properly. We also loved the huge TV and private terrace out back. The pool area and its cascade feature were lovely for relaxing, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Great value for the price, and we'd happily recommend it.

We especially liked the pool, tennis courts and the location. Nimrod Resort Apartments has plenty of space, is clean, and comes with everything we needed for a family stay. It's not the newest place around, but it makes up for that with comfort, useful amenities and really good value. A lovely family find in Port Douglas.

The lagoon pool is great and the location is fantastic. Leanne and Gus were really lovely, and even got the washing machine repaired on Good Friday. We stayed with the kids and found the apartment spacious, with a fully equipped kitchen, fast internet and Foxtel on the TV.
