The pool was lovely and huge, and since the hotel wasn't full, finding a sunbed was easy. Breakfast was great, the food was pretty good and well priced, and I liked getting an AUD20-per-day discount for opting out of room cleaning. The staff were lovely, so I would stay again. My first room had a soaked floor when I woke in the night. Reception said at 8am they'd investigate and move me if it was still wet when I got back from my trip. It was still wet, and the patio doors wouldn't open, so they changed my room. My clothes had been sitting in the damp room all day and felt wet. I was surprised there wasn't an upgrade for the defective room, and nobody really apologized about my damp clothes. Room service was hit and miss. There was no table in my room, and I expected a tray; there was no cutlery either, so I had to ask. The hotel is some way from Piet Douglas, but the shuttle is easy to get and costs AUD15 each way.
What made the stay for us was how friendly every staff member we met was. They made us feel like valued guests. The Sea Temple's pool was magnificent and clean, and the rooms were clean too, though a little dated. Breakfast at the restaurant was very good. We skipped dinner there because the menu was limited and we found better options in Port Douglas. Still, it was a great experience for a reasonable price.
The lagoon pool is perfect for long days of swimming, laughing and unwinding, which is why this is one of our favourite places to stay. Even in quiet season, we could order food poolside and have it brought over. We did miss the pool bar, which was closed during our latest stay.
We weren't staying at the resort, just visiting while in the area, but we felt so welcome that our next Port Douglas holiday is already set on the Pullman. We first met Sofia over breakfast. She was lovely and a wonderful representative for Pullman, and she showed us around the resort and its different rooms. That welcome brought us back for dinner, where Daniela gave us the same warm, homely feeling. We were genuinely sad to leave and return to our own resort. Both of them, along with the support staff, made the Pullman our clear choice for when we come back. I don't usually write reviews unless I think a place deserves more than five stars, and this one does.
Daniela explained the menu so well, and the service was excellent. We had a beautiful meal at the lagoon Restaurant tonight, Thai style Nannygia fish for two, with a wine called dead man walking that paired really well. Definitely coming back soon.
