Excelsior Motor Inn

I liked having a balcony, though the room felt a little dated. The TV was tiny and a lot of its channels didn't work. The location was good, and the service was okay, but it took a while for them to find my booking.

A relative checked in with two young children and found the television damaged along one side within minutes. They went straight to reception, but the male staff member on duty accused them of causing it. He reportedly suggested there had been a domestic altercation and that they had broken the TV, even though they had only just arrived. Things got worse when he accused them of being under the influence of drugs and tried to give what he called a “sobriety test.” The guest has a disability, and those comments were humiliating and deeply inappropriate. Witnesses said he was shouting loudly enough for other guests to come out of their rooms. One person was reportedly concerned enough to consider calling the police. No one should face aggressive behaviour and false accusations in front of their children. It showed very poor professionalism and customer service. Potential guests should know about this experience before booking.

The room and wardrobe were really good, but the bed was a bit hard and the car park was too small for a big car. The bathroom was cramped, and there was a light hanging off the wall in my room. My microwave was rusty and its light didn't work. The toaster in my mum and dad's room was broken, so they had to use mine. This definitely isn't the four-star place Google says it is. It needs renovating.

Awful weekday staff, rude and arrogant. They tried to add an extra $200 charge on the day I checked in, even though it wasn't in their terms or booking and cancellation policy. I wouldn't trust them with my card details. This isn't a four-star hotel as advertised. Avoid this place!
