Pelican Sands Scamander

The spa was what sold us, and it was worth it. Shelley gave us a lovely welcome and great service. Our room was clean and spacious, the views were beautiful, the beach was a short walk away, and there’s food just up the road. We’d been warned about a bit of construction next door, but could barely hear it. The rooms are so soundproof we couldn’t hear our neighbours either. No complaints, and we’d definitely stay again and recommend it.

The kids were thrilled to spot five Pelicans on the beach right outside, and the location made getting around easy. A short walk over the main bridge takes you to cafes and a fun playground, which was manageable with the kids. We stayed in the two-bedroom unit with all four of us, and there was enough room. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking dinner. Finding a cupboard of board games and books for the kids was a nice surprise. We didn’t get to the kayaks this time, but might save those for a longer visit. Check-in and check-out were easy, the beds were comfy, and everyone enjoyed the stay. Thanks for hosting us, Shelley!

We spent four fantastic nights here and had a terrific time. Shelley is a great host, and one night she took all of us prawning. We had some good laughs. The views are wonderful, with direct access to the river and ocean beach, and the deck is a lovely place to watch and listen to the seabirds for hours. Our biggest Pelican count in one day was sixteen, just magnificent. It’s also so handy for visiting the East Coast and hinterland highlights. Thanks, Shelley. We’ll be back.

We loved how central this spot was for everything we wanted to see, and it was lovely relaxing on our outdoor deck overlooking where the river meets the sea.
