Grand Mercure Apartments Townsville

The bridge traffic outside our apartment was unavoidably noisy until later at night, but the view over several restaurants was nice. The secure gated parking, undercover and easy to reach from reception through a glass door, was a real plus. The hotel felt clean as soon as we entered reception, and the rooms looked fresh. There’s a washing machine and dryer, daily room service, a large fridge rather than a bar fridge, and a microwave. The bathroom has two doors. There’s no restaurant on site, though nearby dining is easy, and Palmer Street has plenty of restaurants, pubs, ice cream shops and a general store. Woolies and more restaurants at the Flinders Street mall are an easy walk over the pedestrian bridge. Staff were attentive and helpful. I’d been away from Townsville for 26 years, and this was my 65th birthday. Thanks for a pleasant, memorable stay.

We’ve stayed here often and have always valued the friendly staff and good service. This time we accidentally booked two rooms instead of an apartment. The difference was only about 12 AUD, yet we were told it would cost 50 AUD to change the reservation. It was disappointing that no gesture was offered, given our loyalty and the fact that we’d never had a complaint before. We usually enjoy staying here, and hope the hotel takes this feedback into account.

The location is handy, an easy walk to the stadium and shops, and parking is available. The rooms were clean and tidy, with a comfy bed and pillows, a nice view and a small veranda with a setting. There were also coffee-making facilities and an iron. This place is amazing.
