Crowne Plaza Sydney Darling Harbour by IHG

The breakfast at La Bella was fantastic, and there was plenty to see and do around Darling Harbour, an easy walk from the hotel. Getting transport was straightforward too. We arrived at 7 am, well before the 3 pm check-in, and the bag storage and pre-arrival shower made a huge difference after our 15-hour flight. The employees were some of the friendliest we’ve met. A trainee checked us in, though I only knew from her name tag, and she was extremely kind and helpful. My one complaint was a huge brown stain on the bedsheets that should never have been put on the bed. Apart from that, everything was top notch. Highly recommend.

The service is what I remember most. Staff were consistently attentive and easy to talk to, whether we needed quick help or a recommendation, and nothing felt scripted. The hotel itself is modern and fresh without being overdone, and it’s well maintained. It’s centrally located in Sydney but still felt calm, and the stay was comfortable and convenient without feeling crowded or rushed. Everything felt effortless from arrival to departure. I’d confidently choose Crowne Plaza Darling Harbour again.

Getting around was very easy, with public transport and local attractions nearby. The room was especially spacious and comfortable, a lovely place to relax, and everything stayed spotlessly clean and well maintained during my visit. I had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back.

The alarm and evacuation happened while I was trying to retrieve my iPad, which I’d accidentally left behind after checking out. I returned to reception straight away, and a kind receptionist came upstairs with me. Two cleaners were already in the room but hadn’t found it yet. Then an evacuation announcement came over the PA, so all four of us had to leave immediately and there was no chance to search properly. I was later told that if the iPad turned up, it would be posted back to me, and it was found. Now the hotel refuses to return my own property unless I pay postage, even though the alarm and evacuation were completely outside my control. I’m utterly disgusted. They’ve just emailed to reject my request for free postage. What a joke, it completely ruined a lovely weekend. The staff member I spoke to on the phone was extremely rude, kept talking over me, and wasn’t transparent about what was happening. The lack of professionalism and customer care was shocking. It’s incredibly disappointing that a hotel handled this so badly. I expected far better service and basic courtesy.
