The bed was practically broken in half, bowed in the middle, and the mattress felt about 40 years old. The windows were fixed shut, so we couldn’t air out the room, which had a really overpowering dog smell. I’ve got nothing against pet-friendly places, but they shouldn’t have every room like that. The room also hadn’t been cleaned well, so we were uncomfortable and only stayed the one night before finding another motel the next day. Being able to stream to the TV was the one good thing, but even my favourite show couldn’t distract me from the problems.

We had a clean, tidy room with fresh towels and bedding, and the bed was comfortable. The location was good, and some rooms on the second level have great river views. Best of all, they let you bring your dog into the room, which is excellent.

We called at 7pm on a Saturday looking for a bed, and they gave us a family room at an OK reduced rate since it was the second-last one left. It was old but had what we needed for a night on a driving weekend, with clean rooms, crisp white linen, fresh towels, and plenty of toiletries since we’d forgotten ours. Parking is right outside the door, handy when you’re ready to fall into bed. The spot is just a short hop off the motorway, quiet with no road noise, and the service was fantastic. We’d recommend it.

The staff were nice and it’s pet friendly, which are the only reasons I’m giving it one star. The rooms were filthy and needed maintenance. There was stuff stuck to the dining table, parts missing from the air conditioner, paint missing and marks on the walls and doors, a mouldy bathroom, and we spent most of the night killing spiders in the room. We stayed during the recent floods. The website advertised rooms for $99, but we were charged $150. I don’t know if they raised the price because demand went up during the floods, but it was far too expensive even at $99. It looked like it was being used for emergency housing, with people hanging around outside smoking, drinking, and yelling at each other. A park bench would have felt safer and more comfortable.

My daughter and her partner went into their room and found a disgusting smell, like a wet dog, and a bed bowed in the middle. The owner/manager moved them to another room. There were lots of people around with their pets. When I came back, there was a rotten egg at my door with maggots coming out of it. I told the manager/owner, and he cleaned it up. During the night, I woke to yelling, loud singing, and repeated knocking on other doors, then saw a cockroach crawling on the pillow. There were cockroaches everywhere, and I have pictures. On the second night, my daughter asked me to come to her and her partner’s room because of another smell. As soon as I walked in, I could tell it was kitty litter. We couldn’t afford to pay for another place, so we had to stay.
