Revive Central Apartments

The bathroom drain overflowed during our first shower, leaving water ankle-deep around the toilet and basin. We called, and a cleaner came to mop it up; we thought it was a one-off. It wasn't. We had to keep showers short to avoid another flood and protect the property. The next day the problem was worse. We got a mop, but drying up the water felt like trying to soak a pond with a tissue. We hadn't expected to spend our weekend getaway cleaning, and showered elsewhere on our last day. Management responded and was a little apologetic, but I was upset to find in the guest book that the problem had been there for 5-6 months, with plenty of unhappy comments and apparently no fix or warning. For the price, a cheaper motel would have been better. We were in apartment #2. I can't speak for the other units, but this one definitely didn't match the advertising. The peeling paint on every second wall was bearable, but there was a bad smell as soon as we walked in and obvious damp issues. Opening a kitchen cupboard brought a strong whiff of mould. The oven door wouldn't close properly either. We only needed somewhere to sleep and shower for the weekend, so we overlooked a lot of it until the flooding. We loved Temora, its township, and its people, so the stay didn't ruin our getaway. We could wade through the bathroom, but it would have been a slip hazard for elderly guests. Kids might have enjoyed the indoor water park, though. The location itself was faultless. I won't be back anytime soon.

The guestbook has the same complaints, and the owner's neglect and refusal to deal with them shows contempt for guests. In Unit 2, large sections of paint and plaster are peeling off the walls. The shower head needs replacing, and water pools on the shower floor. The sink was dirty and had no plug. The glass cover on the living room light fitting looks ready to fall on someone's head, which is worrying. The bed and linen were comfortable, but the apartment has needed repairs for some time.

Being just a block off the main street made the apartments quiet but still an easy walk to the supermarket, restaurants, and shops. The place was spacious, well laid out, and had what we needed for a comfortable stay. My only wish is for a lounge bigger than a two-seater, which would make it more comfortable. We'll definitely come back.

We were in room 3 at the back, so there was no road noise. The street seemed quiet anyway, and Woolies was an easy three-minute walk for supplies. The room looked lovely, the lighting was nice, and the king bed was comfortable. We did pass on a couple of maintenance issues. If those get addressed, we'd stay again.
