Tenterfield Motor Inn

The bedding was comfortable and the place was so clean. It’s a perfect spot for a night, with a cute continental brekky. Management also went out of their way to sort out requests.

The fridge never got cold enough to freeze our icepack, and the room had no crockery or glassware. There were two separate remotes for the TV, too. We stayed two nights with our two dogs, but the fenced area out back needs gates and the holes in the fence fixed so dogs can do their business. Each night we had to shower in the dark because the bathroom sensor light only stayed on for 13 seconds and didn’t detect us in the shower. If all you need is a room to shower in and rest your head, these are fine.

Breakfast was left in the room’s ‘breakfast hutch’ the evening before, just cereal, toast and juice. The electric blankets were lovely and warm, and there was a nice view over a paddock. The room was basic but had what we needed, though a couple of lights didn’t work. We couldn’t find how to use the aircon at first. Eventually we found it in the compendium, but still had to google the instruction manual.

The food is advertised as made onsite or next door, but it was actually prepared several servos away at a BP service station, carried over in the back seat of a car and delivered to rooms. That doesn’t inspire confidence in the food handling or hygiene. Cleanliness around the motel also seemed questionable, as though things weren’t properly maintained or cared for. It’s disappointing because the place has potential. It’s not a one-star disaster, but it fell well short of what I’d expect for a comfortable, hygienic stay.
