The family room worked well for us, and the air conditioner kept up with 42° temperatures over an extremely hot long weekend in Waterloo. It’s an affordable, clean old school pub motel in a great spot, with Drakes just across the road and the beach within walking distance. Staff were super friendly, and the little pub on the way to the beach had a really nice schnitzel. There are two beaches to choose from: one has shade sails you can sit under without bringing your own shelter, handy if you’re pale, and a sharknet; the other is open and beautiful too. We chose this motel based on other people’s reviews. If you’re after something simple rather than fancy, it’s a great option. Highly recommend.

The owners made us feel at home, explaining how things worked and what was happening locally, including restaurants, breakfast cafes and things to do. We stayed in detached cabin No.19, and it was a great choice. It’s right in the centre of town, near restaurants and the supermarket, with parking beside the cabin. The two bedrooms gave our small family plenty of room. Inside, everything was clean and laid out nicely, with a comfortable lounge and dining area and a kitchen equipped for a short stay, including a good sized fridge, small cook top and plenty of bench space for meal prep. The main bedroom was a good size, with a comfortable double bed, and the bathroom and toilet were clean and well set up. There were extra blankets and pillows, so the cold nights weren’t a problem. The only downside was iffy wifi. We’ll stay again on our next visit to Wallaroo.

The courtyard room was superb, with a comfortable bed and plenty of hot water for showers. The property is brilliantly placed, within walking distance of everything in town. I’ll definitely stay here again.

We had everything we needed in the room, and the staff were really lovely. The hotel has a huge balcony, a nice spot to eat dinner. It’s a classic place in a great location, with convenient parking. I had a great stay here with my young adult kids.
