After four days of cycling, we rode back into town in pouring rain, drenched and with no chance to shower before leaving. The staff still gave us fresh towels and helped sort out our bike bags, which meant a lot after such a long, wet ride. Earlier, the team had offered to store those bags while we were out riding, so we knew our gear was safe and could enjoy the trip without worrying. We had a fantastic experience at the Gateway Hotel Wangaratta. Their kindness and hospitality went well beyond what they had to do. Thanks for looking after us. We’d gladly stay again and recommend it to cyclists passing through Wangaratta.

The staff are all very helpful, and they clean the windscreens early each morning, a lovely little touch. The hotel is quiet and well located, with lots of business travellers during the week. I used one of the two destination chargers and it worked flawlessly. Charging was free and seemed a reasonable speed, probably 11 kW. The only minor parking issues were one spot being blocked by ice and the other taken by an EV.

They welcomed me with a drink, and the staff were super friendly. The hotel was spotless, high quality and relaxing, with great service. I didn’t use the pool, though it looked good. The food was great, and the price reflected that.

The walls are paper thin. I barely slept for two nights, and then had a four-hour drive ahead of me. When the neighbours turned on their tap, I thought someone was in my bathroom. Earplugs might be a good idea. That said, it’s a lovely place with wonderful staff, a good bar and restaurant, and a great location. The food and service were really good too. They even washed my windscreen on the day I left, and gave me a toothbrush when I’d forgotten mine. That was a nice surprise and a sign of how good the service is.
