Solitary Islands Resort - Caravan Park

We were enjoying our holiday even when the power went out for two hours. We’d been highly recommended to a friend while staying and said we’d definitely return. But after checkout, we got a cleaning fee bill claiming there was a strong dog urine smell. Our dog is fully toilet trained and did her business outside on the real grass. We picked up her poo with a doggy bag and put it in the big bin. She’s a clean, hygienic husky and doesn’t have a dog smell. We even brought a vacuum and cleaned the whole property before leaving. This was our first issue like this, despite staying at Big 4 before. We were definitely unhappy on the way home.

The river views in the morning and evening are incredible, and the 383 restaurant bar is a lovely place to spend the evening with a happy hour cocktail or whatever drink you fancy. There are loads of activities to keep families entertained for days. It’s a fantastic place to stay with or without kids, with well-kept campgrounds and staff who are super friendly and go the extra mile to help.

We were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and my 60th birthday on a short break. The weather was wonderful, and our comfortable Villa overlooked the water. The staff were fabulous, especially Liz, who went above and beyond to make the stay extra special. We’re planning to bring the family in November, and we’re sure the grandchildren will enjoy the activities.

It was quiet and peaceful during the off season, and the park is lovely for families. Our caravan spot was spacious, with good privacy from the natural bush dividers. The camp kitchen was big, the amenities were clean, and there was plenty for little ones, including a large playground and sandpit. The pool area was nice, with big cabanas and a heated pool that we almost had to ourselves. I was a bit annoyed that I couldn’t go down the slide with my 2yo toddler because they strictly enforced one person per mat. Who does that? Also, be ready for mozzies and sandflies. They get you as soon as you step out of the car.
