Centric Baku Boutique Hotel

Agyun and Veli deserve a shout-out. The team made a lasting impression, and their hospitality lifted my whole stay. From check-in onward, everyone I dealt with was warm, professional, and caring. Requests were handled quickly and cheerfully, and the front desk made arrival easy. What stood out was how natural the service felt. Staff paid attention to details and seemed sincerely keen to make guests comfortable, whether answering questions, sharing local suggestions, or checking that everything was okay. I’d happily come back for the service alone. Highly recommended.

Baku was easy to explore from this spot. Our room was spacious and clean, with a lovely balcony, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We felt very welcome during our four nights at Centric Hotel.

The reception team were a real highlight, welcoming and happy to suggest things to see and foods to try. I also liked how quiet the hotel was despite being so central. It has only a few rooms, but they’re large and comfortable. On my first visit to Baku, I found it handy for the old city, waterfront, and city centre restaurants, all just a few minutes away on foot. I’d stay again next time. Thanks!

Our group of nine booked five rooms at Centric Baku Boutique Hotel last October for May, seven months ahead, using three different cards. The rate was favorable and allowed free cancellation until two days before arrival. In early February, Booking.com said all three cards supposedly couldn’t be processed and asked us to update payment details urgently or risk cancellation. I tried reaching the hotel through three WhatsApp numbers, but got no reply, despite having used one successfully a couple of months earlier. Calls from us and Booking.com also went unanswered. We supplied replacement cards, including Mastercard and Visa, but were told the cards still didn’t work. All five rooms were then canceled three months before the trip. There was a major event in Baku on those dates, so suitable places for our group were scarce and the available options cost three to five times more. Right after our rooms were canceled, the hotel started selling those same rooms for four times the price. To me, that shows the cards weren’t the real problem: they had been authorized when we booked and work daily around the world without trouble. It looks like the hotel wanted to shed early, low-priced reservations and earn more in high season. In 25 years of traveling, I haven’t had such openly cynical treatment. This feels deliberate and dishonest, not like a simple mistake. Shame on the hotel. I urge travelers to boycott it.
