Royal Garden Hotel

The buffet had a range of food, including cheese, bread, rice, and salads, and everyone was helpful. Still, service felt average for a hotel rated four stars, and the accommodation seemed closer to three-star level. The floor carpet looked neglected. We asked for a flat iron, then waited a day for it to arrive, even after I followed up in person at the front desk.

The friendly atmosphere made me feel at home. Everyone, from room service to the security guards, seemed to understand the value of being kind. The staff were hospitable, and I had breakfast every day. It wasn’t anything special, but it was good enough to start the day. The rooms are really good for a three-star hotel. They accept dollars for bills, but they can run out of change, so it’s better to have local currency ready when you check in. Don’t count on getting an electric kettle without asking for one. I requested one, but they had to try three different kettles, and none worked. The last one looked nasty inside, like something had been growing in it, so I was reluctant to try it.

There are banks, medical services, and supermarkets nearby, with nice parks in front of and behind the hotel. The staff were polite and welcoming, and housekeeping was excellent. The hotel also has a beautiful swimming pool and an open-air restaurant. Breakfast was great, though the menu stayed the same every day. The rooms have amenities, but you may need to check with housekeeping about getting a dental kit.

I spent four days and three nights here, and it was a wonderful stay. The room was clean and spacious, and the staff were very cooperative. Breakfast was a nice continental spread, and the lobby and reception were lovely. Getting into town was easy, about a 10-minute ride from the old city. There’s a bus stop nearby, and taxis are easy to find. It was really good value for the money, and I’d recommend it to budget travelers.
