The room looked lovely, with nice furnishings, good natural light, and a comfortable bed. It’s right in the heart of town and within walking distance of the station. There was no proper bathroom door, though. The shower faces the bed and only has a see-through curtain, so there’s very little privacy. One person can nap while the other uses the toilet and still make eye contact. You’d have to be very comfortable with your travel companion. The sink also leaked. We told the staff halfway through our stay, but nothing was done and we weren’t given any update.

The room was spacious and clean, and the location right in the city centre was fantastic. There’s a car park opposite the entrance. We only spoke with staff at check-in, but they were always polite when we passed through the restaurant, and all the details had been sent by email beforehand. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

The rooms were great, and the food was amazing. The people running both the hotel and restaurant were wonderful. I’d happily stay here again and recommend it to everyone.

I wouldn’t recommend this place. Booking.com showed it under the pets allowed filter, but I missed the final sentence saying dogs weren’t allowed. That booking mistake was mine, but the owner or manager’s response was arrogant. They said it was too bad I’d overlooked it, kept the money, and offered no apology. The receptionist sent us away saying the owner would approve it, as if everything was fine, but as soon as we left, a message arrived saying we wouldn’t get anything back. They also ignored Booking.com when it politely asked them to refund us. We had to book another hotel, Ibis, which was really perfect, and pay twice. The way we were treated felt improper and like easy money for them. I hope they show more understanding in future and can sleep better.

The location near the shopping streets was the only thing I liked. This hotel is over 100 years old, has no lift, and getting large, heavy bags up its narrow stairs and passage is a struggle. The room looked old, and opening its door made it hit a cabinet. The toilet is so cramped that your knees hit the door when it closes, and a larger person might not be able to shut it. There’s no basin in there, so you have to cross the room to wash your hands. The shower has a half-frosted glass panel but no door, meaning you step straight out into the room. I was horrified by the layout. My friend was upset about the missing shower door too, since her roommate would be right in front of the toilet while she showered and had to cover herself. My friend booked it after reading the good reviews, and I can’t understand why people called it beautiful or praised the food. It just looks old. The restaurant downstairs served lousy food. Everything was too salty, including the stew, and the ribs were tough and hard. A main dish averaged €25 to €30, with bread and hot water costing an extra €2.50 each. I wouldn’t recommend anyone book here.
