Three nights went by far too quickly. The three of us, older, fussy, well heeled and well travelled, felt we'd picked a fantastic base for Bruges. Breakfast was excellent, the honestybar was well stocked and fairly priced, and the extras were delicious, offered as naturally as they would be in a friend's home. That's what the stay felt like, being with good friends who have fabulous taste. Nico and Fabienne couldn't do enough for us, and we really appreciated it. The place is calm, contemporary and charming, so restful and restorative. I had the place to myself for several hours each day and enjoyed the swimming and sauna, much better than the spa. The boys played golf and asked for an early breakfast, which was no problem at all. We'll return.

It's about a 15-minute walk to the centre of Bruges, and well worth it. Our children loved the pool and all the other amenities so much they didn't want to leave. The hosts were incredibly kind and welcoming.

A weekend at Huyze Fox isn't long enough, there's so much to enjoy, and the hosts are lovely to chat with. Nico and Fabienne welcomed us through the big white door, and the good feeling started right away. There's a large parking area, and the chickens greet you, providing the lovely eggs at breakfast. Inside, you can see the breakfast room, a sitting area with a self-service bar, fireplace, modern pool table and jukebox, all overlooking the enclosed garden and indoor pool. We chose the 'polder' room to celebrate our wooden wedding anniversary. It was spacious, felt luxurious, and had a terrace with direct garden access. Each room is named after an area you can visit during your stay. The wellness facilities include an indoor pool, infrared room and sauna, plus a jacuzzi outside. The windows can all slide to one side, so the indoor area can open up to the outdoors. After the wellness or a big breakfast of homemade jams, muesli and yoghurt, you can borrow bikes to explore, just ask poolmaster Nico. Thanks again, Nico and Fabienne, for a lovely stay.

The rooms were finished to a high standard, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was incredible, with eggs freshly laid by their hens. We loved the pool and infrared room, and there's also a sauna and jacuzzi, though we didn't use those. The honesty bar was a nice touch, as was the cosy place to sit by the fire, have hot drinks and play pool. Nico and Fabiene were amazing hosts. This was one of the best B&Bs we've stayed in, and we'd love to come back for longer. It's a quick 10-minute cycle to Bruges on their very well-kept bikes, or about 25 minutes on foot. I'd definitely recommend it.
