Suite Leopold

No complaints at all. We had a really excellent stay a few weeks ago, and I'd definitely pick this place again on another trip to Bruges. Five stars.

We’re a couple in our late 50s, and this was a perfect base for us. The room was clean, with a great shower, plenty of storage, and tea and coffee for the day. It’s easy to find, and Bruges’ old part is a pleasant 20-minute walk away. There’s a bakery opposite and local shops nearby, though no coffee shop close by, just a heads-up. They couldn’t find the keys, but we could reach someone the whole time. The guy replied within an hour, and the instructions arrived in good time.

The Leopold Suite was very clean, and you’re about a 20-minute walk from town. There’s a grocery store nearby, plus a bakery across the street with delicious pastries, though they don’t serve coffee. You can park in front of the building for four hours; the free public lot without a time limit is about five minutes away on foot. There’s also a very good Indian restaurant nearby that I’d highly recommend.

I explained two days ahead that my father had suffered a stroke and pulmonary embolism, and that we urgently needed to go to the hospital to see him. I asked the hotelier if we could move our stay to the weekend, without even asking for a refund. He was rude, showed no empathy, wouldn’t listen, and only seemed interested in getting his money. We had booked through Booking.com with a no-cancellation policy, but we had never cancelled. The worst hotelier we’ve ever dealt with. Completely inhumane. Avoid this place, there must be much better people and hotels in Bruges.
