Citadines Sainte-Catherine Brussels

We like Citadines for the roomy apartments, kitchen, and generous lobby coffee policy, but next time we need an apartment hotel we’ll have to look elsewhere. This room was very tired and overdue for a major update. The bathtub tile was crumbling and needed an emergency repair during our stay. The plastic mattress cover also made the bed dreadfully uncomfortable, something we rarely come across at other branded hotels.

The location was PERFECT. The rooms were clean, but the furniture and floors were old. The floorboards were so dilapidated they seemed to fall apart underfoot. There’s no air conditioning, and opening the window made the room noisy.

We were in room 1123, and the stove didn’t work. There was also constant loud noise, like furniture being moved, and a strong food smell throughout the building. Most unsettling was seeing someone, likely intoxicated, lying on the elevator floor and being kicked while staff did nothing. We felt unsafe. When we arrived, we reported a broken light switch straight away. A staff member came late and said they’d come back, but never did. We were then told a technician would come the next day, and nobody came. The light couldn’t be switched off all day. This was clearly an existing issue that never got fixed. Poor communication, unresolved maintenance problems, and serious safety concerns. I wouldn’t repeat the stay.

The location was excellent, and breakfast was good, but I found many better options in the city for the price and quality. The studio was advertised as a studio, yet the room was very small and quite dark. The bathroom had a basic, budget feel and wasn’t very pleasant.
