Cool Central Apartment

At least the sheets, towels, and apartment were clean, but I still wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. There was a strong musty smell, and the double bed had an old, uncomfortable spring mattress that sagged. Getting to the room was difficult because the access was narrow and had steps. The shower and toilet were in the entrance hall of a bedroom, and there were no directions for the apartment’s doorbells. If you book through Booking.com, the owner’s phone number is missing too.

The floor was dusty and dirty when I arrived, with bits of paper on the table and sofa fabric. I had to clean the apartment myself because it was so dirty, but the landlord never returned the promised €30 cleaning fee. I rented the apartment on Rue Anneessens in Brussels from October 26th to 30th, 2024. The landlord came in while I was out to change the bathroom lightbulb, without telling me. I’d already spent several days showering in the dark. When I first arrived, I waited eight minutes for the building manager, S., with no message from him. He brought linens and towels from the basement with dirty hands, just after coming in from the street and handling the keys and building doors. The IKEA tags were still attached to the bedding and towels. This was a serious lack of hygiene, as the photo shows.

I gave it a one because zero wasn’t an option. Fleeing would be putting it mildly. The smell, rubbish in the hallway, warnings about thieves on the 3rd floor, and mold in the bathroom were enough for me. I’d rather leave it at that. Never book here.

We left at 4:00 AM because we didn’t feel safe. There were drunk people in the stairwell and a burning trash can on the ground floor. The building was filthy and noisy all night, with no hot water or facilities, and the room wasn’t clean. Enough to give you nightmares.
