The Scott Hotel Brussels

The hotel itself was lovely, and the rest of the staff were lovely too, but one morning Front Desk worker made this a horrible experience. His name, from what I know, is Vergil. He worked mornings until three pm, was rude, seemed racist, and didn’t listen to what customers wanted. When people spoke a language other than French, he looked disgusted and barely looked at them. As I walked away, he laughed about me with a colleague. My sister and I stayed May 8-10 and had two rooms. We arrived at night and found that our room wasn’t what we expected, so we asked to switch. The gentleman at the desk said they were full that night, but rooms would open up the next day. He told me to come before twelve and speak to his colleague to sort it out. I came down at 9pm the next morning and explained what I’d been told, but Vergil refused to listen. He kept interrupting me, saying I thought I knew more than him because he worked there and I’d only been there one day. I expected much better treatment.

Breakfast was enjoyable and well prepared, and the quiet neighborhood is convenient, with Munthof Metro station and the Louise area a short walk away. The room had enough space, a comfortable bed, and modern amenities. A few things could be better: the sofa bed takes up too much room, and there’s no fridge. The desk was crowded with tea facilities, a tablet, and a tissue box, so there wasn’t much space for a laptop. The lift fits only 3-4 people without luggage, which could mean a wait when it’s busy. An iron and ironing board are available if you ask.

We picked this hotel because we needed a lift for our three suitcases, but nobody told us it was under maintenance. As we carried everything down the steep stairwell, no one offered help, and afterwards we weren’t even offered water. There was no apology either. The service and hospitality were very poor. I wouldn’t recommend this place, and it doesn’t deserve to be called a hotel, or even a hostel.

For the price, the location is ideal. The room was clean enough and functional, but my rating is only moderate because there was no room service and the window couldn’t be opened.
