The room smelled of cigarettes, and at 9 am housekeeping came in while we were in bed despite the do not disturb sign on the door. We were also woken at 6am by people screaming and smoking on the fire escape, which is illegal and left the room smelling awful. There are no-smoking signs all over the hotel. Construction went on nonstop from 7 am for 12 hours, with concrete drilling, metal sawing and jackhammering right above us. The rooms look nothing like the photos, and the carpets were stained. At check-in, the receptionist was rude and miserable for no reason. When I raised these problems, staff said to “go stay at the Hilton instead” and claimed they couldn't do anything. They gossiped about us in front of us, not realizing I understood them. They thought we were American and treated us poorly. The staff were arrogant, disrespectful and incompetent. I'd give it zero stars if I could. Don't book unless you're fine with awful conditions and rude staff.

I wondered if they were being nosy or might steal something. Staff seemed incompetent and made rude comments in other languages, apparently thinking we couldn't understand that dialect. I'd strongly recommend avoiding this place.

You're right in the heart of Brussels, close to Grand Place and lots of pubs and restaurants. The room was clean and retro, which was okay, and the bathroom had a shower and looked renovated. The walls are thin, though. A street-facing room is noisy, while the other side is quieter.

The location is the hotel's main advantage. The building feels dark and dated. My room faced away from the noisy street, but there was an unpleasant, constant hum from rooftop ventilation, and the thin walls meant I could hear my neighbors clearly. The bathroom was acceptable, but the staff didn't seem very interested in making guests feel welcome.
