The Usual Brussels

A very convenient location, around a 10 minute walk from the central parts of Brussels and about the same to Brussel-Noord in the other direction. We had a great two-night stay. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy to do ourselves, and staff were on hand if we needed help. The room had everything I wanted.

The staff were really helpful, and it was easy to walk into town or reach the metro. The hotel was quiet, the curtains blocked the light well, and the bed was large and very comfortable, though one of us had to climb over because it was pushed against the wall. The room felt smaller than expected, with a cramped ensuite and a toilet you couldn't flush with the lid up. The shower was small but hot and had good pressure. The bean bag in the “superior” room was uncomfortable. As a vegan, I was very disappointed. The website mentioned vegan soup, but we were told it was only available in winter, and there were no vegan pastries or bread at breakfast. We couldn't eat anything in the restaurant. I booked expecting the hotel to cater well for vegans, especially as it presents itself as sustainable. It felt pricey for what we got, and I wouldn't book again unless its vegan options improve.

The location made it easy to explore Brussels on foot, and I felt safe and at ease as a solo traveler. The room was small but cozy and thoughtfully laid out, with a very comfortable bed. The Usual Brussels was modern and clean, and the staff were kind and helpful. The whole place had a relaxed, welcoming feel, so I had a really pleasant stay.

What stood out most was the staff. They were so helpful and friendly, and even mailed back a sentimental item I left behind. The breakfast in the cosy cafe was delicious and generous, too. It's a relaxed, friendly hotel in a great spot, close to tour pickup points, restaurants, and all the attractions. The rooms are small, but had everything I needed. Thanks for a great stay.
