Thon Hotel Brussels City Centre

The location is excellent. Rogier station is 10 metres from the entrance, there's a small supermarket next door, a convenience store opposite that's open until 5am, and KFC and OCheese are across the street. The nearby boulangerie on the road called “mykoffee” is great. The shared facilities are solid: free shuffleboard, a nice bar, and a sauna. The gym is a bit lacking, though that's true of most mainland Europe hotels. Water pressure was the best I've had. Sleep was the real problem. The beds are much too soft and give no support, the square pillows feel narrow, and if you move around you might roll off. The double beds have two single duvets, so you can't move much. Our thermostat barely responded to the controls. Even set to 5c, it blew air at about the same temperature, and despite having the window as open as it could go overnight, we woke up wet with sweat. We could hear people in the corridor, TVs nearby, and furniture being moved, which got frustrating in the evening. We struggled to sleep through the night, and what sleep we got wasn't restful. The hotel has some very good points, especially the location, but falls short on the basics. Cleanliness and functionality are the minimum, and temperature control didn't work. For a decent standard, the beds and lack of soundproofing are a problem. Great facilities don't mean much if you can't get a good night's sleep.

The breakfast was my favorite part. There were lots of vegan choices, and all the food was great. I especially liked the two types of vegan cheese, the vegan yogurt with nuts and dried fruit to add on top, and the falafel. The room was very nice, the location convenient, and the staff quite helpful.

This hotel is great value for the price, and the location is perfect. Rogier metro station is right outside, with a Proxy supermarket next door. The shopping area starts just across the road and continues towards Grand Place square. I arrived very early after a long flight, and the reception team kindly let me into my room. Being able to shower and nap before heading out to explore that afternoon made a big difference, especially since most nearby stores don't open until 11am. That service alone would bring me back next time I'm in Brussels.

A handy central Brussels hotel, with spacious, well-equipped rooms, complimentary water, and a coffee maker. I chose not to have daily room service, which meant I could give 10 Euros to charity for the three nights I stayed. I'll definitely return on my next trip. Breakfast costs a bit much at 35 Euros, but there's a very convenient shop next door for food and drinks.
