Loft Place Saint-Lambert

We came across this beautiful place while walking around Liege. It looks like a palace, though I don't know exactly what it was. We only stayed a few minutes, but I'd love to explore it more.

A luxurious place that reflects the wealth of an earlier era.

The roof is magnificently carved, and the stained glass is beautiful. Be sure to look behind the pulpit for the white marble statue of Lucifer. Liège Cathedral, also called St. Paul's Cathedral, has a history reaching back to the 10th century, although the present building dates only to the 13th. Like many churches from that period, it’s a fine example of Gothic architecture. Notable details include the richly decorated altarpiece in the abbey chapel, a Baroque sculpture of St John the Baptist inspired by classical Greek art, and the nave’s ribbed vault, with golden ribs and vaults painted with rinceaux in a French Gothic style. There are also lovely stained glass windows, some with contemporary designs alongside the traditional ones.

It's such a shame this place has been left like this, and that the tram installation was renovated so badly. The bus round above is dangerous. They should put in poles or painted lines instead of leaving people to get pushed around by late bus drivers. It's dangerous even after Saint-Lambert was disassembled by the Ardent Liégeois facing Bourguignon & church invaders!!!
