Smartflats City - Saint-Adalbert

I asked to arrive an hour early and was turned down because the cleaning staff were meant to be there. But when I arrived, nothing had been cleaned. The apartment was filthy, with bedsheets on the floor and the bedroom window wide open. It was impossible to stay there for even a minute. I complained and asked for a full refund to my credit card. Since November 17th, I still haven’t received it. They say it takes 10 days.

The apartment looked nothing like its Booking.com photos. The sofa was filthy and torn, as was one of the chairs. There were holes in the doors that looked like they’d been made by hard impacts, and stains on some walls and the dining table. The kitchen cupboards had something like oil smeared on them. Pretty disgusting. I contacted Smartflats right away to say my family and I wouldn’t stay and to ask for a refund. After four or five calls through a call center, they said Booking.com was responsible for the refund. Booking.com later told me that wasn’t true. I paid for a place that didn’t match what was promised, and that I never even used. I’m still going back and forth by email with Smartflats and Booking.com. Avoid this apartment and Smartflats.

The living room is fine, but I wouldn’t recommend the place because the bedroom layout is terrible. They tried to fit too much into it, so it doesn’t work for a couple. The bathroom is awkwardly placed, with its door by the head of the bed and a 20-meter walkway along the bed. The toilet is right in front of you, and the door won’t shut all the way. There was a strong smell from the sink and no shower curtain. You also have to figure out for yourself that the code is on the door handle. The pictures show what I mean.

My reservation was cancelled well before the deadline, but I still haven’t got back the more than 800 euros. A bit dishonest. Avoid at all costs!
