Le gîte du faubourg

We weren't expecting much from this place, but it turned into one of the highlights of our trip. If you want somewhere remote where your group can actually spend time together, this is a good fit. The character stood out right away, especially the gorgeous ceilings that give the rooms a lot of soul. The spaces are narrow, but that ended up making things feel more intimate, and we spent time together instead of splitting off into our own corners. The soundproofing is also very good. We couldn't hear anything from outside. The kitchen was fresh, modern and practical, with everything we needed to cook. The BBQ area was easy to use and especially handy for a winter stay. Everything was spotless, and the upkeep clearly matters to them. A couple of things to know: the woman who greeted us was lovely, but spoke only French, no English or Dutch, so we got by with gestures and smiles. Google Translate may come in handy. It can also get surprisingly busy downstairs, and sorting out payment well ahead of time makes things smoother. For what we paid, it felt like a steal. It's a warm, lived-in, high-quality place that exceeded our expectations. Definitely worth the trip.
