Hotel Victoria

On 31.12.2025 there was no electricity in the building, and the other guests we saw were using their phones as flashlights. The owner came out drunk, shouting that our reservation had been annulled and blaming us. He wouldn't listen to reason and was incoherent throughout the interaction. I wouldn't return.

CAUTION, scam! After booking through Booking, we were told on arrival that we'd need to pay roughly double because of a supposed “mistake.” We'd also agreed in advance on a jeep transfer to Bezbog hut, but there too the original price was called a “mistake” and doubled on the spot. The owner or manager, whoever he was, seemed drunk, was rude and unprofessional. The hotel doesn't look well maintained, and there are much better places around.

We booked for 2 nights, but left before the second. In winter the hotel and bathroom were as cold as outdoors, and the wall heating didn't work. The SPA was out of order too. Our room was damp and worn, with broken wallpaper, cobwebs in the corners and on the lamps, and it didn't seem to get cleaned properly. The bed had stiff, springy coils. I was surprised to see children there, since this didn't feel like a place for them. For somewhere in such a popular spa area, the standard was shockingly low, as though any refreshing repair was years or even decades overdue. Prices weren't even cheap for a mountain hut type of place. We felt misled, and won't return. I can't believe a place like this is allowed to operate at such a low level instead of attracting guests and competing.

We came during the off season and found it comfortable and inexpensive. The views are wonderful, and during summer the staff were very accommodating. Breakfast was fantastic, the sort you can't get anywhere else. It's a family run place, not the Ritz Carlton, so don't let the bad reviews put you off. Five stars.
