Minotel Rodopi

The bed and pillow were really uncomfortable, the walls were thin, and the shower had no separation from the toilet. Even the lift smelled of smoke. It’s a cheap hotel in a run-down industrial area of Plovdiv, well away from the city center. I guess the low price is what you get.

There’s parking round the back, and the air conditioning worked great, which is handy in Plovdiv’s heat. The room itself was dated, with old furniture and bathroom fittings and a few stains. It was okay, though not good. Could have been worse.

The beds were comfortable and clean, and Bus 11 goes straight to the center. The stop is right in front of Hotel Rodopi when you’re coming from the center, which is really convenient. Still, the hotel is more than 4km from the city center, and the rooms weren’t clean overall. The bathroom was the worst part: everything is cramped, and the toilet and shower share one space with no partition, so shower water goes all over the bathroom. One battery in the TV remote was dead, so I couldn’t watch TV. The hotel is old and hasn’t been renovated. The balconies are falling apart, and I didn’t feel many people could safely be out there at once. It might be okay for one night if you want a cheaper option, but I wouldn’t stay longer.

There was a horrible smell throughout the hotel, and then I saw a giant rat in the lobby. The windows were filthy, the rooms were awful, and the bathroom was disgusting. There was a clump of black hair even though I’m a redhead. Avoid this place at all costs!
