The balcony view is incredible, above the river bank and directly across from the monument. In the evening, the sun on the houses is breathtaking. The room was spacious, with lots of closet and desk space, and the beds were clean. The place was good value, and the owner was very friendly at check-in, though we couldn’t reach him afterwards. The rest of the room and the bathroom weren’t clean. I’ve stayed in places with all sorts of cleanliness levels, and this wasn’t the worst, but it really wasn’t good. There is technically a kitchen, but it’s only a sink and fridge, and both looked gross enough that I didn’t dare use them.

The room layout was nice, especially with the beautiful balcony view, and the WiFi was stable and good enough, though not very fast. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the main castle, and the host welcomed us warmly and professionally. For the price, the service is already very good. But the room’s cleanliness was unacceptable. There were limescale stains in the sink, a moldy smell in the bathroom during our April stay, and, worst of all, many stains on the mattress that we only saw after lifting the sheets. I hope the host takes the property’s cleanliness more seriously in the future.

There are good places to eat nearby, and the house is close to Tsarevets fortress and the city centre. It’s an old, cultural house that’s been looked after, with a great view over the monuments and river from its spot in the old town. The host was nice and friendly, always happy to help.

The views were wonderful, and the city is incredible. The place was inexpensive and not exactly clean, though decent. I had an amazing experience.
