Bahrain Carlton Hotel

We stayed five nights, so there was time to get a good sense of the place. The staff were polite, and the location was very good. Still, even though it's a three star hotel, other three star places I've stayed in stood out more. You get what you pay for, and it was cheap, so the rooms felt cheap and poorly maintained. For a family of 5, they were stingy with towels. There were stains on the tables and around the sink, and marks all over the rooms. The windows were dirty enough to make it hard to see out, as if they hadn't been cleaned for weeks or even months. The floor across the whole area was scratched and could use a rug.

I liked this hotel because it's in a very good area. It's quiet, peaceful, and calm compared with other hotels and the areas around them.

The stay was okay, but it didn't feel classy. Room service and housekeeping were good, and the staff were friendly. The old building doesn't look good, and there's a government notice saying the hotel is closed, though it's still operating, so I don't know what's going on. The corridor lights use motion sensors, but many seem not to work. The pool was badly maintained, with no circulation and feathers in the water, and the shower rooms were in bad shape. The TV is small and old, the AC has no temperature control, and water on the washroom floor has nowhere to drain.

It was the cheapest option in Manama during my dates, so the price was fine for what I got. The building looks very old, though the room was okay. There was a smell outside the room, and the AC wasn't cooling well. I went down and told reception, but no one came to help. Loud music from the upper floors at night was irritating.
