Chasqui del Sol

We had a great view of the sunset over Lake Titicaca from our room every night, and Chasqui del Sol was a beautiful, freshly painted and remodeled hotel. Jose handled so much for our family: he carried our bags up five floors, arranged tours, breakfast and a ride to the La Paz airport, and even let us check out late because of our late flight. The prices were similar to or sometimes lower than arranging things ourselves. He was very attentive and clearly works hard, though he can be serious. We enjoyed our stay and would come back to Copacabana and stay here again. The one thing we missed was a space heater to rent for the cold winter nights, but hot showers helped us warm up. Thanks for the hospitality.

The view was spectacular, and the room was very clean with a wonderfully hot shower. The hotel also serves one of the best breakfasts in Bolivia. In suite 50, though, one bed was so hard that sleeping on it was uncomfortable, and the toilet flush made a very loud noise every time. Nights in the room got very cold, but there were plenty of blankets on the beds.

The service was terrible, even though the hotel is in a good spot right on the beach. Our breakfast was fine and the shower had hot water, but the room was dirty: the carpet was soaked from the rain and smelled damp, and the bathroom bin was already overflowing when we arrived. For the price, I wasn't expecting much from the bed or the single TV channel, but cleanliness should at least be a priority. You'd have to steal from them to pay for your stay...

The only good thing was the location on the waterfront. My room was in awful shape: the paint on the ceiling and walls inside was deteriorating, and the bathroom ceiling paint was peeling so badly it kept falling down. The shower curtain was too short, so water splashed everywhere. The bed sagged terribly. All the room doors had padlocks because their locks were broken. A disaster.
