It’s near the bus station, though you have to climb a short hill. I never managed to connect to the WiFi because it was so weak, and sometimes I couldn’t even see the network. I was told there was hot water, but the staff member’s embarrassed smile made me think he knew it wasn’t really hot. I ended up taking a cold shower in 7 degrees Celsius, with no heater or hairdryer to warm me or my hair. For the price, maybe those things are too much to expect, even though they seem basic to me. The hotel gives itself 3 stars on the main door.

A cheap but good place, about a 5 minute walk from the busstation. The people are really nice and speak good English. You get what you pay for and a bit more, including a nice breakfast view from the top of the building.

The owner says I made strange claims to the receptionist that amounted to harassment. All I did was leave a little criticism in their guest book, and my review was mostly positive. I feel the owner made up a false pretext to slander me. These rich Bolivians really can’t take criticism. It’s pathetic.

The rooms are unfortunately very cold. It’s a problem everywhere in La Paz :(

Disappointing. This place has everything it needs to be a great stay. At 150 bol for a couple, the price would be fair for La Paz if not for two problems. The Wi-Fi is awful, like 3G, and even though there’s Netflix on the room TV, it’s too weak to load. The worst part is the shower. La Paz is cold, and not having a decent shower in the room is unacceptable. I’ve only seen one like it at a really awful hotel in Colombia: you have to open the tap just a tiny bit to get hot water and hope you don’t get burned, because opening it a little more makes the water cold. Breakfast is okay. In Bolivia it’s generally bread, butter, jam, coffee and tea, and this hotel also serves cheese and ONE scrambled egg. Funny enough, in Copacabana a hotel of the same standard costs 100 bol. Hotels in La Paz are generally more expensive and worse. I knocked on the doors of all the nearby places and chose Perla thinking it was the best option. And it really is, they just need to fix the Wi-Fi and shower.
