Hotel Independencia

The courtyard was a lovely place to sit, and the rooms were roomy and comfortable. Mine was cold, though, and I wasn’t comfortable leaving the little space heater on overnight. The blankets were enough. Noise was the bigger issue. I suspect there’s a school behind the hotel because marching bands, music, or other sounds woke me every morning. The rooms really aren’t soundproof. Breakfast was fine, with bread, eggs, coffee, and fruit, but nothing special. The shower setup was odd too: the high showerhead pointed straight at the curtain, so it was hard to get under the water. Still, it did the job. A solid three-star stay, and I’d come back if I needed to.

The room was clean and spacious, and I liked the setting and location. The WiFi and water pressure worked well at times, but were unreliable.

The location was great, but breakfast was awful, and the WiFi was even worse. We only got an intermittent signal in certain parts of the hotel, and in other areas there was no connection at all.

Our room was 207, near some kind of community center. Music played there until 10 pm on Sunday, and before 7 am Monday there were kids playing games and the national anthem blaring. The shower curtain didn’t go around the bath properly, so water ended up all over the bathroom. The hotel is central and clean, but the WiFi wasn’t reliable and breakfast wasn’t kept stocked. I don’t understand why the manager just sat collecting room numbers instead of helping clear plates.
