Pousada Golden House

We left after only 40 minutes. The room we were given looked nothing like the listing photos. It was tiny, almost like a cell, with a high window and a dark curtain that made it gloomy. Cleanliness was nowhere to be found: there was hair in the fridge, both beds had visibly dirty, marked sheets, and the room smelled musty. We turned on the air conditioning, and then, coincidentally, we started sneezing. We considered asking for clean bedding or another room, but reception closes at 6 p.m. and nobody was there to help us. It was impossible to sleep in those conditions, so we decided to leave.

The welcome was terrible. Nobody was there to receive us or handle check-in or check-out. The door was open when we arrived, and there wasn't a responsible staff member on site. It left us feeling unsafe.

Breakfast is the one thing that helps this guesthouse, though it still needs a lot of improvement. There are no staff at night, so if something goes wrong, you're on your own. Our check-in was handled by an employee who was very unprepared to deal with guests, and the rooms were very hot even with air conditioning. There are four parking spaces for 31 rooms, so everyone else has to park on the street. There's no spot set aside for someone elderly or with limited mobility.

If you're looking for somewhere to rest, this is a good choice. There's not much luxury and no pool, but the rooms are tidy and clean. Breakfast is simple and really tasty.
