Portal do Sol Lençóis Pousada

We stayed very comfortably, aside from the restaurant and breakfast. The pousada is beautiful and clean, but it’s far from the center. A taxi is easy to call, though the fixed fare is 30,00 each way, which I found a bit steep and too much to pay often. The restaurant charges a lot for the food it serves. Breakfast felt quite basic, with few choices. What surprised me most was that the pão de queijo had run out before 8:00h, and when I asked, I was simply told there was no more and none would be replenished. Breakfast runs from 07:00h to 10:00h, so what would people arriving later get to eat, whatever was left?

Getting around is the main drawback. The pousada is outside the center of Barreirinhas, and there’s no Uber in town. Reception can call a taxi for R$ 30 each way. We tried asking two or three drivers for a discount, but they all said no. We started staying in the center after our tours, so we only had to pay for a ride back. Even so, I thought the stay was worth it, especially compared with some places downtown that are basically homes adapted to operate as pousadas. The property was new and well cared for when I stayed in April de 2025. It’s beautiful, with wooden decor details, spacious rooms, a children’s playground, and a pool with bar service. There’s also a marina, so river Preguiça boat tours begin and end right at the pousada, which is very convenient. All the staff were kind and attentive. A few things could be better: the blackout curtain lets in a lot of light, breakfast could have more variety, and when the pousada is full, it can take a while to replenish items that run out. It’s best to arrive early for breakfast. The pool is a nice place to relax after excursions.

It’s a peaceful, quiet place with lots of green space, and the rooms are roomy and practical. Mine had a balcony overlooking the pool, good beds, a minibar, air conditioning, TV, decent Wi-Fi, and a great shower. The pousada is at Rua Principal, with Rua Boa Vista 01, in Barreirinhas/MA, some distance from the city center. The grounds are spacious, welcoming, and nicely decorated. There’s a playground, a good restaurant, and a pool with bar service. It also has its own marina, which makes boarding and getting off river Preguiça boat tours right at the pousada very convenient. Breakfast is simple, homemade, and good quality. The staff were very attentive, and service was quick and friendly.
