The individual villas are beautiful, and the restaurant is so good that it's worth eating there instead of going into town. Max, who serves at the pool and bar, is lovely. My best experience was a private massage with Katiane. She's a wonderful masseuse and a lovely person. If I'd known, I would've booked one every day, and I'd happily return anytime. The hotel sits on the bay side, with beautiful mountain and sea views, and is the first place you reach after getting off the boat, so there's not much distance to carry your luggage. It's a short two-minute walk up the hill to town, where the shops and restaurants are, but the hotel itself is away from the traffic. I loved staying there.

The massage my partner and I had with Katiane was a real highlight. She's amazing and knows exactly what she's doing. I wish we could bring her along on every trip! The staff were incredibly attentive, and I'd happily return to Morro and stay here again. For the best views, book a room with a private balcony. The higher rooms have especially extraordinary views, though getting up there takes some fitness. To me, it's the best location in Morro. Thanks, Portalo, for a fabulous stay.

We stayed in the luxe chalet called ‘Victor Hugo’ near the top of the property. The upgrade was worth it for the privacy and wonderful view over the water. There are a lot of steps up from reception, but after all those moquecas, it was good exercise. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Katiane, the massage therapist, deserves a special mention for her amazing hands and caring manner. I only wish we'd had more time for more massages. This is a great hotel if you want to stay away from the busy main beaches. You can take a taxi boat to Gamboa for 10 reais to get to the beach without a long walk. We'd definitely come back.

There are nice outdoor spots, a pool, a TV room, a snooker table, and a wet bar. You can also watch a beautiful sunset from here. A great place to stay.
