Pousada da Villa

We spent six days at the inn and had an excellent stay. The service was first-rate, and there are several restaurants, a market and a handicraft shop nearby. It’s beside Praça do Trinta, which also has an outdoor gym. I highly recommend it!

The room was comfortable, with air conditioning and hot water, and it was kept tidy. The breakfast is basic, but Geane and the staff can make omelets, eggs and other things if needed. The inn is just outside Vila dos Remédios but very close to it, across from a square, a supermarket and a bus stop. Gê was so willing to help and polite. She even arranged things the way we needed and found someone to pick up an orthopedic brace for us in Recife. I’m grateful for how well Gê looked after us.

What made the stay was Ada, such a lovely, hardworking woman and a wonderful cook. She made a great breakfast and a delicious afternoon snack every day, between 5 and 7 pm. It’s worth checking whether she’ll be working there before booking, she really makes a difference. The rooms are comfortable, with good beds, air conditioning and flat-screen TVs. The inn is farther from Vila dos Remédios, but the island is small and a taxi ride anywhere takes about five minutes. The weak point was the shower: the water pressure was low and it was almost impossible to get a steady temperature, either too hot or cold.

The cleaning was very poor, and even basic things were missing. There’s no staff at the inn after 5 pm, so there’s nobody to turn to if you need anything. They don’t leave guests any dishes or cups either. One night we got back late from an outing and there was no toilet paper in the room. Worst of all, when my friend emailed management about the problems, they responded with irony and didn’t acknowledge any of the failures.
