The volunteers are the reason I gave this hostel a high rating. They were welcoming and fun, and made the stay special with everything from breakfast and dinner to yoga, the bar, hikes, and surfing. They're exceptional. The location is central, close to everything. The common areas and rooms were clean, and the Wi-Fi worked well in the main area and coworking space, as well as in rooms nearby. The coworking room is small, though, and the chairs feel like they might break. Since few people seemed to work there, it was manageable. The private rooms are a different story, and the management, which wasn't present at the property, needs to address their upkeep and descriptions. Both rooms I stayed in were quite dark, with little natural light. I first had the Bangkok container room, which is basically a metal box on the street in front of the building, before reception. There is no soundproofing, so there was constant noise from motorcycles, trucks, buses, cars, pedestrians, and, on weekends, restaurant music. It was quiet only from about 1:30 a.m. until 5:50 a.m. The bathroom window also leaked badly in the rain, something a volunteer confirmed management already knew. I suggested clearly warning guests about the noise on all booking platforms. We were then moved into the main building. It was much quieter, but smelled musty and humid, almost like mold, and running the AC on dry mode didn't clear it. The room was advertised as having a garden, but there wasn't one, as the photos show. I'd rather they leave that claim out so guests don't expect a garden. The Wi-Fi signal was very weak in the container rooms. I'd still recommend the place because of the people, but choose your room carefully. I wouldn't recommend Bangkok or Honolulu to anyone sensitive to noise, humidity, mold, or poor ventilation.

We came to surf and explore Floripa, which is awesome, and I still think about the time Victor spent sharing his life, knowledge, and waves with us. He's a mindful, patient, knowledgeable surf instructor, and a cool person too. The hostel is well located, with everything close by or a bus ride away. A bit of traveler advice: bring earplugs wherever you go and you'll sleep fine.

The volunteers are wonderful, and I even got close to a few of them. It's a really social place, so it's a great fit if you like chatting, parties, and having fun. The location is perfect. Definitely a place to stay!

The location is great, but I had a bad experience. The private room called “Rio de Janeiro” had obvious mold problems that weren't apparent in the photos. The images on Booking.com and Google don't show what the room is currently like. It was very humid, poorly ventilated, and had a strong, lingering marijuana smell that seemed embedded in the room and made me question whether it had been properly cleaned. The private rooms appear to be next to each other and seem to have the same ventilation problems. Not long after arriving, I developed severe allergy symptoms. I felt unwell during my stay and afterward, which I attribute to the mold in the room. Check-in was also poorly organized and took far too long. They asked for documents, including credit card details, before arrival and then asked for them again when we checked in. We were asked for more information and to take photos on arrival, which added to the delay. After a long journey, all that repetition and waiting was frustrating. Given the room conditions and the inefficient check-in, I don't recommend it.

The volunteers were kind and even kept in touch before I arrived. I loved the warm welcome, the facilities, and the atmosphere. My stay at Wolf sea hostel was perfect. Thanks again, I'd highly recommend it!
