Pousada Tropical Maragogi

I was treated very well, especially by the short-haired blonde woman at reception. The room, number 207, was a bit of a letdown. It was very cramped, and the air conditioning unit was noisy. It’s okay, but I expected more for the price.

My husband and I gave my sister and brother-in-law a night at this pousada, but it turned into a complete disappointment. They arrived tired from their trip and found the shower in their room broken. When they asked to move rooms, the employee was extremely rude. He said they could switch only if they carried all their belongings and towels themselves, because staff “wouldn’t carry anything.” That was unprofessional and lacked even basic courtesy. We felt embarrassed to have given them such an unpleasant experience. We expected more care, respect, and hospitality. We don’t recommend it and won’t return. They arrived on 06/11/2025. The guests were Sebastião, Karina, and Cherie, a German Spitz. They paid extra for the dog’s stay. They were also charged another 100 reais because they left two hours late. I’d consider that fair if they’d been treated well. I’m sharing the date and guests’ names in case the owners want to look into it and retrain the employee in how to treat living beings. I’d be very happy to get my money back.

The only real plus, if it suits you, is the central location near the beach. It’s also very noisy there. We arrived exhausted in the early morning after a trip of more than 10 hours and were put in a street-facing room. We asked to change rooms, but were told it wasn’t possible. The glass doors let in a lot of light and noise, and we had to carry our bags up the stairs with no offer of help. There’s no parking. Breakfast was pretty weak, though I wouldn’t count that as a negative. We wouldn’t come back.

The rooms are comfortable and have air conditioning, and the staff are polite and helpful. We had an easy stay. The hotel is close to lots of restaurants and shops, with a modest beach right out front, so don’t expect too much from it. As for the nighttime noise other people mention in reviews, it wasn’t that bad. I think those complaints are exaggerated. The bathroom, though, could be better.
