It’s a family run pousada with just four rooms, and the longer you stay, the more fond of it you become. There’s a handy kitchen, spacious walk-in showers and a characterful design. Unpretentious, but very comfortable, it sits at the foot of a breathtaking mountain range. It feels like a good place to find quiet, open skies and the warmth of a friendly family. Owner and artist Nelma Guimaraes handmade the decor with natural materials and soft colors that suit the beautiful surroundings. We loved the traditional breakfasts and the atmosphere. Thank you, Nelma and Alexis. Meeting you on our journey through Brasil was such a pleasure and a stroke of luck. We had a lovely, interesting, inspiring time with you. You’re incredibly warm people.

We spent three incredible, unforgettable days with Noelma, Alexis and their animals. Hearing the story of the struggles to build and preserve this magical place, Terra de Aruanda, made it feel like a real experience with them, the animals, plants, fruit and flowers, not just a stay. We were treated to a beautiful full moon and two nights of torrential rain. It’s a special little corner of the chapada. The rustic chalet has a good bed, a great shower, a mini kitchen for a quick snack and a mini fridge. Breakfast was made with care and was enough to set us up for either a day of rest or adventure. It’s worth ordering the dinner the couple prepares, it’s delicious. If you’re looking for peace, a lesson in loving nature, or a chance to really experience the place, this is it. Worth every kilometer of the drive.
