Like a Hostel

Really well located, and a lovely family-run place to stay. I’d definitely recommend it!

We felt at home from the moment we arrived. Dona Maria and her son Júnior welcomed us warmly, and even when we left, Dona Maria said it felt like a relative was going away. Everything is simple, but so welcoming. I’ll definitely come back next year. The hostel is right in the center, which made it easy to get around without driving in circles looking for parking. The blue-zone parking starts at R$1,50 for half an hour. The city is clean and organized, and most sights are easy to reach, though some need a car or a local bus. The Botanical Garden was closed with no reopening date, Recanto dos japoneses was closed for renovations, and the chessboard attraction was missing its pieces. There are lots of lovely, clean squares around town. It was our first hostel stay, and my family and I spent four days in Poços. The rooms were very clean. There was fresh coffee in the kitchen each morning, offered as a courtesy, and a great Wi-Fi signal. The fridge had enough room for our food, and there’s a microwave and tables in the yard if you want to eat outside. There’s also a clothesline in the yard for washing clothes or underwear. There’s a very good soap factory near the hostel, with really good service. For breakfast, you can go to nearby restaurants, or in the afternoon to Casa da Cultura, which opens from 14:00. At Mercado Municipal, shopkeepers offer all kinds of things to taste even if you don’t buy anything. Prices vary a lot, so look around before buying.

Dona Maria do Carmo and Júnior made our stay in Poços a really pleasant experience. It feels like being welcomed into a family. The room and house were very clean and organized, and breakfast was tasty, with milk, bread, and fruit. We’ll be back! Big hugs from guests Adriano, Ana and Arthuzinho.

A great choice in Poços. The service was excellent, the rooms spotless, and they offered hot coffee in the morning.
