Hotel Piramide Dois De Julho

We stayed seven nights, and the whole experience ruined our time in Salvador. Several nights, guards in bulletproof vests were stationed outside as hotel security. We slept with a chair braced against the door because we felt so unsafe. From the moment we arrived, the area felt dodgy, and locals told us without being asked that it was dangerous, full of crackheads, and that the hotel was often used for prostitution, which we could hear. We didn't see any guests staying longer than a night during our visit. When we raised the safety concerns with the hotel and booking.com, they said the booking was non-refundable and nothing could be done. We stayed because we couldn't afford anywhere else. The facilities were dirty and disgusting. The sink and shower drains were blocked, and the only sheet was stained. The two towels were stained and unusable, especially the towels. We asked for another sheet, and it was delivered through a cubby hole accessible from the hallway at any time by anyone. We've contacted booking.com several times asking them to remove the listing, since tourists shouldn't be staying in this kind of hotel, but nothing has been done.
