Pousada Amazônia

We stayed at the pousada from 30/12/25 to 03/01/26 for the first time, in one of the luxury suites. The pool area is excellent and very peaceful, the hotel is good overall, and the staff are friendly. But there are several things that need work. The pousada is about a 15-minute drive from the center. The transfer advertised on its website doesn’t actually run as described, which I consider misleading advertising under CDC article 18. It has set times and only goes one way, either to or from the center depending on the hour. You have to request a car and wait. Once we waited about 30 minutes. A taxi is another option, but it takes time and costs around 30 reais to the center. Our luxury suite had very poor lighting. At night you could barely see in the bathroom, and there was no light by the sink, so we had to brush our teeth in the dark. The digital lock wasn’t working. Manager Raul said he’d send someone to fix it, but nobody came. We were left hoping nobody would come in and touch our things. There was nowhere to put our luggage, either. We’d reserved for three people, but only a double bed was there when we arrived, even though I’d told them we’d be three. Breakfast is never served at 7:30 and the variety is limited. There were no cold cuts until the last day. Plates and cups ran out and weren’t replaced right away; when they were, they were still wet. Fruit was the only real variety, and on our last day there wasn’t even juice. Reception, housekeeping, and bar staff were generally very friendly, especially Anderson, Flavia, and Paulo, but they need training to do their jobs better. I had to ask Suelene twice for towels for the room and still didn’t get them, so we used wet ones. Restaurant service was very slow, and they got orders wrong, so you need to check them. The owner, Joe, is open to improving things and wants guests to have a different kind of experience. The hotel is good, but the management needs to improve, with someone experienced in the field to train the staff and suggest changes.

The staff were generally attentive, though they seemed a little lost when it came to the procedures. The worst part was the late checkout. When I booked, I made clear I’d only book with the pousada if late checkout was possible, since I’d be arriving late. Then, in the middle of the afternoon on the day I was leaving, I got a message saying they wouldn’t honor the agreement and had already removed our things from the room. That felt completely disrespectful and led to other situations that left me extremely uneasy.

The rooms were comfortable, clean, and well organized, and the facilities made the stay even better. From the moment we arrived, the attentive team made us feel welcome and was always ready to help. Amazônia is beautiful and peaceful, with a special calm that makes it easy to rest and connect with nature. It’s the kind of place you leave missing and wanting to return to. I’d recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a restful, comfortable stay and memorable moments. 🌳💚
