Pousada Luz - Santo Amaro do Maranhão

We’re from Florianópolis, SC, and stayed for two days. The place is beautiful and cozy, the welcome was warm, and everything worked well. Breakfast was top notch, with local food and drinks, and the pool area is gorgeous. One thing to plan for: if you don’t have a car, you’ll need to get a taxi to town, since it’s a bit far to walk. Otherwise, it was great. I recommend this pousada.

I made the reservation on 14/05/25 for a stay from 30/09 to 06/10. Then on 01/09, the pousada messaged me saying I needed to cancel through the hotéis.com app because they would no longer take guests that year. The app didn’t offer a way to cancel without a fee, since my rate was non-refundable, so I asked how the pousada would handle that. They told me I had booked through the app and should sort it out with the app, saying they couldn’t do anything. I tried calling so they could explain to the app that they were canceling the stay, not me, but they didn’t answer and stopped replying to my messages. An establishment that gives customers no service, whatever way they booked, doesn’t deserve a good rating. Keep this in mind if you book here. Their customer service is poor.

The rooms are spacious and have air conditioning. There isn’t a wardrobe or a place to set a suitcase, but there was an extra bed in our room that worked for that. Breakfast is simple, with really tasty fruit and very fresh food. It’s a simple but comfortable pousada and good value for money. It had what we needed, with a great location near the entrance to the park dos lençóis. There’s a restaurant across the road, a tour agency next door, a convenience store on the corner, and free parking inside the pousada. Fabio was very helpful, and manager Etiene was lovely.

The tours get you to the destination quickly, without the difficult trails and ferry ride you’d deal with in Barreirinhas. We were welcomed so warmly, and the room was always clean and tidy when we got back. Breakfast was really good. The pousada is about 1 km from the center and close to the lençóis. You can walk if you want. It’s not nearby, but it’s a manageable walk, and you can explore a closer lagoon. Going on foot to see the sunrise is a great idea if you want to avoid needing the municipal fee wristband. I loved Santo Amaro and thought everything about the place was great!
