Casalô Hotel

The staff were lovely and polite, and I felt bad seeing them carry huge, heavy trays up and down all those stairs, often serving three or more people on their own. They must end the day with sore backs. But there are too many problems here for me to consider it a five-star hotel. Breakfast is poor quality, and ordering everything through the system feels stressful. Even coffee has to be requested. The hot dishes arrived cold because they couldn't keep up with demand. If you're after a five-star stay, this isn't the place.

There are better pousadas in the vila for less money, with better service. This hotel is overpriced for what we got, and I wouldn't come back even if it were free. Breakfast was a terrible experience: you fill out a Google form right after breakfast to choose the next day's food, and even basics like coffee, butter, and salt have to be ordered. Forget something and you have to message them. The selection was poor, and the hot dishes were cold, including the eggs, tapioca, and couscous, because they couldn't handle everyone ordering at once. The fruit was brown, served whole and wrapped in cling film. This doesn't live up to a five-star hotel at all.

I loved all the plants and walking around the beautiful, relaxing hotel with my fiancé. Sleep was another story. I could barely manage a full night, maybe because our room was on the first floor. Workers made noise outside, dogs barked in the middle of the night, and at 6:30 every morning someone from the hotel started sweeping and shoveling dirt into the gaps between the rocks. I appreciate them keeping the place looking nice, but it woke me up every day.

I had one of my best experiences here. The village and hotel both made me excited. It's a cozy, beautiful, amazing hotel.
