We came back to Georgetown for the first time in 20 years and ended up at Coral Breeze after our stay at Stevenson had to be cut short because of overlapping reservations. After renting on Great Exuma, where waves lapped the beach, this place was a definite no for us. The driveway was the biggest problem. A local man gave us directions and suggested backing up it. The incline had large holes in the rock, and I worried the car would scrape underneath, which we'd be responsible for. At the rental, the first step was nearly 12 inches high and there was no railing. My wife Mary was afraid she'd fall, so she crawled up to the porch. From inside, the place looked nice, and the stone exterior was attractive, but the view through the trees was only a small glimpse of Stocking Island, where we used to anchor. We sat back down at the bottom and decided it wasn't worth risking a fall or trying to manage that driveway on foot or by car, especially at night after going out to eat. We tried to reach the owner, Melissa, but US phones don't work in the Bahamas. The Vrbo virtual assistant was difficult to use, and Vrbo blocked both Melissa's and my email addresses when I tried to send pictures. When we finally connected, Melissa refused to cancel. We explained the driveway issue and asked whether we could split the cost, but she said no. We took photos of the drive, though they don't show how bad it really is. Anyone renting Coral Breeze should consider using a jeep. There are plenty of other good places in Georgetown. We got a room at the Augusta hotel instead, with a beautiful view, a nice pool and a restaurant. We prefer Vrbo rentals, but we'll be hesitant next time. Lesson learned.
