Hotel Galingkha

Right in the center of Thimpu, Bhutan’s capital, so shopping and other errands are easy. The rooms were spacious and had all the amenities, with a good view from the windows. Staff were humble and helpful, and the food was good. A very nice hotel with reasonable rates. I’d recommend it.

The central Thimphu location is good, but too many things in the hotel didn’t work. Our heater was broken. Staff said they’d replace it, but nothing happened for five hours, and even after we reminded them there was no response. The bedsheets were dirty, the kettle didn’t work, and the lunch we’d ordered ahead never arrived. When we followed up, staff seemed confused about the order. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We arrived late at night on a bike trip to Bhutan, and it was really cold. The hotel people gave us such a warm welcome, and the food was amazing. Thanks for the room heaters too, we slept well.

The rooms are good, but room service is very cheap. At one point the staff refused to give me bottled drinking water because the restaurant was closed. After an hour or two of struggling, we finally got the bottles. I’m giving it three stars because of the hotel infrastructure.
