I sometimes go to Le Méridien for a massage, then spend a little time at the restaurant for drinks and snacks. It’s always been a pleasant experience. The massage is relaxing and professional, and both the masseuse and restaurant servers are attentive and welcoming. It’s a comfortable, luxurious spot to unwind in Thimphu.

The front desk responded quickly when I reported a problem with the landline in my room. I was especially impressed that MIS IT Manager, Mr. Suraj, came himself to fix it. He was friendly, nice, and efficient, and his personal care made a very positive impression. Thank you for the service. I found the hotel convenient for walking to the Memorial Chorten, Clock Tower Square, and Coronation Park. My spacious room had warm wooden floors and traditional Bhutanese touches, and the bed was very comfortable after exploring. The hotel also blends modern comfort with Bhutanese charm, and the staff went out of their way to personalize meals and other small details. Breakfast had good quality and variety, the restaurants felt refined yet relaxing, and the spa, heated indoor pool, and fitness center were a welcome treat after trekking days. It’s easy to see why Le Méridien Thimphu is considered one of the top luxury hotels in the capital. I felt cared for from arrival, and it worked well for relaxing and exploring Thimphu.

On my second stay, I had mild altitude sickness, and a staff member brought me peppermint tea, saying it might ease the symptoms. It did :) The staff were hospitable throughout, especially the ones who chatted with me during breakfast and dinner. Kezang Poida, apologies if I’ve got the name wrong since I read it from a piece of paper, Sangeta Ghalley, and Pema deserve a shoutout. Please keep up the good work! This is overdue, but I had a great stay at Le Meridien Thimphu from 22 Feb 2026 to 24 Feb 2026, on my first solo trip to Bhutan. The food was delicious, and the room was very spacious and quiet. The floor lamp wasn’t working, so I took one star off the room rating. The hotel is also close enough to the centre to walk, and I’d stay here again when I return to Bhutan.

I came to Meridien Thimphu for work, and the location made sense for my team. The staff were the one bright spot, genuinely nice and hospitable. But the hotel didn’t measure up to other Marriott 5 star properties, and there are better options in Thimphu, such as Pemako. I wanted to spend the weekend somewhere else to see another side of Bhutan on my first visit, and gave the hotel 48 hours’ written notice. The Associate Director of Sales said changes within 7 days carry a 100% cancellation penalty, so be warned. I’m now stuck here. The bathroom flooded regularly, though management agreed to upgrade my room after I posted this. There was also a broken glass jar about 1/3 full of cashews in my room, and I hope I didn’t ingest any glass. The rooms are basic but clean, and the food is okay. I regret choosing this for my first stay in Bhutan.

Service was impeccable and very prompt in both the rooms and restaurants. Executive Chef Ganesh Singh and the team did their best to customize the excellent food to our liking. The rooms had all the amenities, comfortable beds, and well-controlled air conditioning. The hotel is central, close to clock tower square, shops, and cafes. It has a heated pool, though unfortunately it was under maintenance during our visit. Probably the best hotel in Thimpu.
