Hotel Osel

I’ve stayed here twice, and both times found it a convenient, pleasant place. The location is super nice, and you can walk around the central area. The rooms are enormous, each with a huge window, and the staff are lovely and provide great service. Personally, I preferred going to different places around the city for food.

The hotel is in a great spot, convenient for the city centre, but the housekeeping is tedious. I have to ask every day for something that hasn’t been replenished, and nothing seems to improve. Breakfast has the same sort of issue: the menu lists eggs benedict with an english muffin, but I never got an english muffin. The wifi setup also makes little sense. Guests staying three weeks still get passwords that last only 3hr. The fridge overheated because it was enclosed in a cupboard without ventilation. Room service prices don’t match the restaurant prices, so check the bill. Are they just too lazy to correct the room service menu?

The food was very good when ordered from the a la carte menu, but the buffet was a disaster and could easily cause stomach problems. The hotel is well located in Thimpu, and the top-floor view is extremely nice. The staff were polite, attentive, and helpful, and cleanliness was well looked after.

The rooms are spacious and the bed is very comfortable, and the staff are extremely polite and helpful. It’s a good place for a vacation, though a little away from the main market hub, and prices are higher than most available options. The complimentary buffet breakfast is very basic, with few choices. If the power goes out, the generator takes a long time to start. Even when a small piece of used soap is left in the restroom, the very basic soap bar is never replenished. The worst part for me was that guests are never allowed into your room, regardless of the guest’s gender or the time. This isn’t mentioned anywhere, and it was embarrassing when someone I invited was denied entry.
