The hot water cut out halfway through my bath. This is a very old hotel, with no phone to call reception, and reception isn’t open around the clock. Maintenance seems far behind: things in the room that were broken hadn’t been fixed, including the hairdryer plug, which didn’t work. Overall, it feels rather old. Given the choice, I wouldn’t recommend it.

The views are amazing, as you’d expect in Bhutan. The rooms are lovely and comfortable, and the double rooms have a separate living room for relaxing or entertaining. There’s one small catch: a surprisingly big step down into the bathroom. You’ll get used to it after tripping over it once or twice! 8-)

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the meal was excellent. I enjoyed the Red Panda beer, a German-style wheat beer. It’s a beautiful building with lovely, roomy spaces and rooms. I’m looking forward to returning in two days.

The hosts were so friendly and welcoming. Rooms are neat and clean, with the basic amenities. They’re wooden, with beautifully painted murals, and the outside has a totally traditional Bhutanese look.
